The Specialty Coffee Association has announced that the upcoming Specialty Coffee Expo will host the World Coffee Roasting Championship for the first time in the United States. The event is scheduled to take place from April 25 to 27, 2025, at the George R. Brown Convention Center in Houston, Texas.
The World Coffee Roasting Championship was established in 2013 in Nice, France, to celebrate excellence in coffee roasting. Competitors are evaluated on their skills in coffee evaluation, preparation, blending, and roasting. The 2025 championship is expected to be the largest to date, with participation from up to 28 competition bodies worldwide.
In addition to the roasting championship, the expo will feature other prestigious competitions, including the Coffee Design Awards and the Best New Product Awards, recognizing innovation and excellence within the specialty coffee industry.
The Specialty Coffee Expo is anticipated to attract over 17,000 attendees from 85 countries, offering opportunities to explore the latest in coffee innovation, culture, and sustainability.
