About coffee

NANO GENJI MICRO-LOT

The Nano Genji micro-lot from Western Ethiopia has become an early summer favorite. Coffee from the Agaro region is one of the first fresh East African coffees to arrive in North America and our roastery. This coffee is a benchmark for Ethiopian specialty coffee, showcasing how investment in meticulous craftsmanship and controlled production processes can consistently deliver outstanding harvests year after year. With a clean flavor profile and well-defined notes reflecting its origin, region, terroir, and lot, Nano Genji continues to exceed expectations season after season.

Established over two decades ago, this farm has evolved into a technology-driven operation and a trusted supplier known for its commitment to excellence. Thanks to the USAID Technoserve project aimed at improving the livelihoods of African coffee
farmers by helping them achieve better prices, the Nano Challa washing station was created. Recognizing the unique character of their coffee, Aleco invested in building strong relationships with these producers, strengthening them over time.

THE REMARKABLE FLAVOR PROFILE OF NANO GENJI COFFEE

Nano Genji offers an intense, lively sweetness reminiscent of candied ginger and a sparkling, champagne-like finish. This remarkable flavor profile is a testament to the care put into every step of its journey—from cultivation and harvesting to meticulous processing.

About Ethiopia: Ethiopia is the birthplace of coffee. For centuries, coffee has grown freely in backyards, on small family farms, and across the countryside, cultivating thousands of unique coffee varieties. The vast genetic diversity of Ethiopian coffee creates a spectrum of flavors—from delicate flowers to ripe stone fruit to bold berries—making Ethiopia one of the most beloved coffee origins in the world.

Aromatic and elegant. The aroma of this coffee is absolutely stunning. I brewed it in my French press, and the floral and fruity flavors were smooth and elegant. It’s slightly lighter than I expected, but still an amazing experience.

Perfect for Aeropress. I used my Aeropress, and the result was incredible. The bright acidity and subtle fruity undertones create a refreshing cup that’s smooth and light. This coffee feels luxurious yet approachable.

Complex and fruity. I brewed this coffee with my French press, and the flavors were complex and layered. The fruity notes were a bit more subtle than I expected, but the light and clean finish makes it a great choice for specialty coffee lovers.

Bright and floral. This Ethiopia Nano has such a vibrant and floral profile. Brewed as a pour-over, it brings out delicate jasmine and citrus notes with a clean, crisp finish. It’s a true specialty coffee that I can’t get enough of.

Light and refreshing. This coffee feels like sunshine in a cup. The citrus and floral flavors are so well balanced, and it has a light feeling that’s perfect for an afternoon pick-me-up. Brewed it with my Aeropress, and it was amazing.
