What You'll Need
AeroPress brewer
Two AeroPress paper filters for a clear cup
Coffee grinder
18g of coffee (medium-coarse grind)
Hot water at 176°F/80°C (about 60 seconds after boiling)
Timer
Mug
Step by step
1. Measure and Grind
Measure 17g of coffee and grind it to a consistency similar to table salt
2. Prep the AeroPress
Place the filter into the AeroPress basket and rinse it with hot water to
remove any paper taste.
Preheat the AeroPress brewer and your mug.
Discard the rinse water from the mug before starting.
3. Add Coffee and Water
Add 17g of coffee to the AeroPress, then remove the funnel.
Start the timer and pour hot water into the brewer slowly, adding up to 220g of water.
Swirl or spin the AeroPress to ensure the coffee grounds are evenly
saturated.
4. Place the Plunger and Wait
At the 4-minute mark, stir the coffee and water mixture, then attach
the plunger to the brew chamber and gently pull it up to form a pressure
seal.
At 1:15, release the pressure seal, stir the coffee slurry again with a
spoon or paddle, reattach the plunger, and begin pressing.
Slowly press down with consistent pressure until you hear a hissing
sound. The entire brewing process should take just under 2 minutes and
yield about 7–8 ounces of coffee.
5. Enjoy and Clean Up
Enjoy your freshly brewed coffee! Cleaning the AeroPress is simple—
remove the basket, discard the coffee grounds and filter, and rinse the
rubber plunger with hot water. You're now ready for your next brew!
